Craigslist.org Helped Hurricane Victims

On the New Orleans page of craig s list, people from Arizona are offering temporary housing for people who lost their home in the Gulf states.

Many of the postings are not asking for rent money. They just want to make sure the families are from the disaster zone, and legitimately need a place to stay for a while.

A sample of the postings:

For any Katrina victim (Alexandria, Va.) “I have a bedroom available in a two bedroom townhouse I am will to share with anyone in need due to Katrina. It isnt much but it is shelter to help out. … My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

2br - Free 2 bdr. apt. for displaced family. (Michigan) 2 bedroom, clean, apartment available for responsible family displaced by hurricane. Free for at least one month. Can help furnish, will help with job search. May be able to help with transportation. Small town in Michigan. Pets ok.
